Country- inside the borders you have mountains, Jungle, and beaches all within hours weather is generally nice throughout the entire year People- They are very friendly Quite a few A mericans either living or visiting there Cultural Inferences A collectivist culture, such as Ecuador, can be defined as a culture that places â€Å"emphasis on the group's wants, needs, and desires. People of Ecuadorian culture are defined by their relationships and are connected to others† (Staten).Although the men are given distinct individual privileges and do not always consider the opinions of others, the whole culture of Ecuador embraces more of a collective approach. One specific example is that the children often times do not go to school so that they can help out the family either by working around the house and in the yard, or by getting a Job to provide a little extra income. This may seem as more of an economic issue, but it is the belief system associated with the situation that illustrates a collectivist approach.Children understand that it is an honor to attend school and would love to do so, but they are ultimately concerned with the benefits of the entire fam ily, not just themselves. Therefore, knowing that it will help the family makes it relatively easy to give up the opportunity to further their education. While collectivist values are very apparent in Ecuador, there are also illustrators of a very individualistic view. As mentioned above, the males in Ecuador are a prime example of individualism. As defined, individualistic values place â€Å"emphasis on the individual's wants, needs and desires.A person is defined by their personality and is separate from others† (Staten). Men in Ecuador are given, and grow to expect a much greater deal of respect. They do not have to check in with anyone, and are free to make decisions based on their individual feelings and beliefs (even if the decision affects a number of people besides themselves). When the men come home from work they do not help out with the family or around the home either. It is not unusual to find men out late at night â€Å"unwinding† after a long day, illust rating how they deliberately take care of themselves first. Ales. Not only is this applied to men, but also to elders. They make decisions without consulting others and no one questions their authority. One specific example of vertical power can be found in the fact that women are legally obligated to practice total obedience towards their husbands. If respect is not given to a certain individual, domestic violence is a common response and is not considered a criminal code (Guidance). Also illustrating vertical values, students view the school system and their education as an opportunity not to be taken advantage of.Therefore, they give up-most respect to their teachers and do not misbehave in class (talking out of turn, Ewing late or disrespectful, rough-housing etc). The premium is placed on memorization and lecture with very large class sizes. This means that students are not given one on one attention, and instead have a ‘nodding acquaintance' with their teacher. The prima ry goal of secondary education is the development of economic and social mobility so youth are prepared and able to assume positions of leadership in society (showing importance of rank).Also, in order to qualify for one of the nine institutions students need to score high on the admissions test, thus ranking dents with their peers and promoting a competitive atmosphere (Wilson). Specifically looking at the classroom conduct that children are taught to obey, it is also easy to detect a restrained cultural value. As seen in the classroom and also in the definition of restraint, â€Å"people are expected to learn to control their emotions, which is a sign of maturity' (Staten). Speaking up against the teacher is absolutely unheard of and results in very careful use of language and analysis by the students.The students are not the only ones who practice restraint though. The teachers liver a class session full of facts, theories, and reflections, leaving little to no time for discussi ons or most forms of expression. The classroom is calm and controlled, leaving little room for the unexpected, or unwanted. Restraint does not stop in the school system, but extends to various aspects of life. For example, if a woman chooses an occupation in the business field she must take extra precaution and find an appropriate balance between appearing ‘pushy and professional.During the initial greeting, both men and women will refrain from contact and will reserve kissing (once on each check) for the elderly and the young. Typically, men will greet with a firm handshake and women will greet with a soft hand-touch (once again showing that women must refrain from a ‘powerful' appearance). Also, when having a discussion with someone, it is common knowledge to refrain from talking about politics (specifically the government and possible difficulties with their neighboring countries).These practices show that people are expected to hold off on emotional expression and in stead show self-control to appear ‘professional' (Foster). As discussed above, there is an obvious cultural value in the area of gender differences. An emphasis is placed on unambiguous sex-roles and women/men are viewed different physically, psychologically, and socially. Men work outside the home and are the initial providers for the family, contributing the main income and making the family decisions.Women very rarely work outside of the home and are expected to be capable of working in areas such as weaving, cooking, cleaning, child care and yard work (preparation and harvest). Even children are raised with specific gender-based chores and early occupations. While young, little boys will often complete their duties souse with the cooking, sewing, and cleaning. For extracurricular activities boys are allowed to learn music and play instruments while girls are only allowed to sing and dance along with the provided music.As they grow older, boys will often find a Job around a ge 12 (usually labor based) to help support the family financially, while girls will often enter the sexual union (have children and take care of their husband) by age 12-13 (Brine). The cultural values of Ecuador do display a degree of structure between individuals of varying ‘status,' but values of flexibility are also very prevalent n day to day life. During casual or leisure time the notion of time' is not always viewed as a necessity. Lunch dates and evening get-together are set around flexible times and it is not considered ‘rude' to show up late (15-20 minutes).Lateness in Ecuador however, has become such a problem that the government has been forced to get involved. In a recent interview with President Lucia Guttering he stated â€Å"We have to be on time for the sake of God, the country, our people and our consciences! † (â€Å"Don't Be Late.. â€Å"). This ‘problem' is being dealt with, but remains as a prime example of their flexible lifestyle. Flexibility is a value that is also tied directly to family life. Families and individuals need to remain flexible when determining how to earn their income. Many families are not extensively wealthy and live off of their crops or products sold at the market.However, there is always the chance that the crops will not turn out, or the products will not be sold and so families are often times willing and open to finding additional sources of income. The children understand and are accustomed to these situations, and therefore remain very flexible with any of their future plans. While helping around the house they may not have set chores, but instead help out with whatever is necessary at that moment. As they grow, some might have the opportunity to attend school, while others may have to stay at home.Even if they are granted the chance to go to school, children understand that they need to be flexible in case their family needs them at home, resulting in withdraw from their classes. C learly, the idea of flexibility is taught from an early age and carried out though adulthood. Intercultural Comparison: Matt was a key person to interview. Not only did he grow up in Ecuador and embrace the culture and values, but he has also experienced a considerable amount of his life in America. Through the interview he gave very qualified information about the people, customs and traditions of Ecuador.Then, following the interview we discussed some of the similarities and differences that are apparent between Ecuadorian culture and American culture. It seems through resources and Mat's personal experience that both Ecuadorian and American cultures have a wide variety of situational communication â€Å"dos and don't. † Both cultures have casual and professional styles of communication, both appropriate for different events. The greatest differences between the two cultures and their forms of communication are the use of expressive communication (greetings in particular) a nd the expectations based on status differences.In American culture, people rely a great deal on the use of expression, specifically person (someone they have previously met) without the use of their body or exaggerated facial features, it would most likely be very difficult or nearly impossible. In America we often times greet others with a hug, a large smile, and possibly a ‘handshake' specific to our relationship. The American culture values expression within our communication from beginning to end, an aspect that differs with that of the Ecuadorian culture. In Ecuador, people are fairly restrained with the use of actions and expressions, producing a more subtle greeting.Even people who are very excited and happy to see one another will be more formal and calm, most often extending Just a friendly handshake. In Ecuador it has been clearly stated that there is a strong vertical structure throughout not only the home but through the community. This differs greatly from Americ a, the ‘land of equality. If a woman in Ecuador was to be told she can't do something because of her gender (especially if told from her husband) she would most likely accept this as an understandable explanation.However, if an American woman was told that something was being withheld from her simply because of her gender she would most likely sue the company or individual for discrimination. This difference is also very apparent in the school systems. Children in America give a degree of respect towards their teachers, but as they advance the respect seems to dwindle until student/teacher relationships become so casual that they are implementing their own ‘handshake' upon greeting, and comparing plans for the upcoming weekend. In Ecuador, respect is expected – even more so as you advance.Students give total reverence to their teachers and would not even consider crossing any questionable behavioral or communication boundaries. Clearly, Ecuador and America have so me clear cultural differences, but those differences are what make each country unique. The differences between the two cultures do not have to serve as a boundary, but rather a bridge if researched and dealt with properly. All human beings are alike. As Matt explained, one of the greatest misunderstandings is the quality of life (materially) in both countries.Both countries have people who are rich, and people who are poor. In both countries people relate to their families, work to support themselves and loved ones, and most importantly, people in both countries all need some source of communication to survive. The key is broadening our knowledge base about what communication is– not only in our own culture, but around the world. Coming to understand and appreciate the various values found in other cultures will not disconnect us from one another, but will make world-wide communication stronger and more effective.

My placement supports adults with physical and sensual impairment.The day centre | |provides range of different groups designed for disabled people. I have chosen an exercise group to my project to describe an | |individual service user. | |The organisation is registered service and regulated by the Care Inspectorate which was established by Regulation of Care ( Scotland| |) Act 2001. Trained and qualified staff works with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) requirements. All service users | |within the placement are treated accordingly with the criteria delineated by the National Care Standards – Support Services. |Each service user in the organisation has his key worker, who creates an individua l care plan based on assessments and taking into | |account the needs and expectations of the individual. | |As a student in the placement I comply with all regulations listed above. In the centre I provide appropriate level of care and help| |in taking part in all available activities. Treat all service users with dignity, privacy, give to all service users choice, provide| |safety, allow realising potential and take account of equality and diversity to each individual. |I chose an individual who I named Mr X to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 to mention that personal information have | |to be used in fully anonymous as awareness of confidentiality and one of a main principal of National Care Standards and SSSC – to | |respect a privacy of service user. | | | |Mr X is disabled since 2009 after when he had cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and resulting in his left sided weakness. Despite his | |disability he still lives in his own home and has a support worker.He is keen to remain as independent as possible but is | |frustrated by his poor mobility. He uses wheelchair fulltime and suffers from epilepsy and diabetes. | |Mr X grew up in nuclear family. He had both parents and sibling – brother and four sisters. His siblings and his mother still live | |and they all are in very good relation to each other. | |Mr X grew up in very familiar environment during his primary socialisation and values gained through this time transferred on his | |later life. He also had a lot of friends. Mr X was very attached to his family and treats closest people as the most important.As | |Bowlby’s theory of attachment says that through attachment to mother Mr X’s basic physiological needs had been satisfied in primary | |socialization. | |(Malim. Firstly he lost his health through CVA and his wife which passed away two years after he became | |disabled. |Based on Elizabeth Kubler – Ross On Death and Dying research in which she presented five stages model by which I going to describe | |Mr X’s feelings: | |Denial and isolation – Mr X after lost his health and wife felt that what had happened was very unfair and hard to accept by him. | |Anger – Mr X felt that God does not exist because in other way the tragic situation would never have happened. | |Bargaining – Is a form of truce, begging and promising himself and God, trying to make a deal with the God. |Depression – Mr X gave up and became resigned and lack of motivation to continue living. | |Acceptance – Mr X accepts the present life with the supports of hisfamily. Also classes in the Day Centre give a new meaning to his | |life. | |(E. Kubler – Ross; 2003 ) | | | |To analyse a personal needs and development of Mr X I use PIES model of needs and Maslow's Hierarchy of Hum an Motivation. |There are four categories: physical need to improve Mr X’s mobility, intellectual need to through communication and reflects on the | |choice of appropriate equipment to perform an exercises, emotional to rise Mr X’ self esteem and strengthen his self – confidence, | |and also social need as interaction with other service users. | | | |Maslow's hierarchy of human motivation believes that to achieved the higher-order needs must first meet the basic needs. |During Mr X’s healthy life he was happy and fully satisfied. He had love each other family – wife and two sons so he felt | |belongingness and been attached, he was working so was independent and also received respect from colleagues. He had also very | |active social life. Mr X used to enjoy playing golf and football during his healthy life so he was very active person. He has seen | |himself as very sociable individual enjoying a beer with friends. He was leading successful life until became disable.The | |disability made him unable to do things from previous days. His motivation decreased and he became very frustrated. | |(R. Gross; 2005) | | | |I started my preparation to an activity with a consultation with a manager. I chose as activity exercise group and gained permission| |from the manager to perform the activity.Then I discussed my chose with Mr X’s key worker and also gained from the key worker a | |care plan of the service user and other significant information regarding Mr X’s background, family, health condition and general | |risk assessment. | | | |An important factor for me was a conversation with Mr X and eventually gained permission from him. I explained clearly to the | |service user how the activity will be proceeded. Through the conversation and observation of Mr X’s I learnt what he expects from | |the activity.Also I assured him of his right to choose a course of the activity whether to amend decision. I am going to abide by | |the rules such as National Care Standards by giving to Mr X choice and treat him with dignity and communicate with him in | |appropriate and open way. | |Thanks exercises he hopes to regain the mobility in legs. In the exercise group he feels is given him a purpose to get up of bed and| |the opportunity to interact with his peers in a supported environment. | |I spoke with the leader of exercise class about the course and the main objectives of group.Also the leader informed me that the | |exercise group will take place in main hall of the placement and showed me the room in which it is held needed equipment. | | | |In my placement is using personal – centred planning model of care. The idea of the model was created by O’Brien and Lovett. This | |model is targeted for people who want to change something in their life. The model also focuses on make individuals as independence | |as possible.Mr X has significant left sided weakness and he requires a high level of assistance with all tasks and activities. He | |would like to attend a local gym to work more on building strength on his left side. He also discussed with his support worker a | |possibility of using community venues out with the Day Centre that may have activities running that would keep him busy and involve. | | | | | |For my project as I mentioned I chose exercise group.Main purpose of activities is to keep Mr X as fit as possible, encourage him | |to exercise and more motivated to make progress in becoming back to his mobility. It will make him a lot of satisfaction and | |increase their confidence and belief in his own abilities. Classes also will allow him to be among peers to avoid allowing it to | |feeling of isolation. During the activity I will communicate with Mr X in openly and clearly as awareness of SSSC Codes of Practice | |and Human Rights Act 1998. | |To my activity I intend to use the appropriate music played from a CD and exercise equipment stored in a d esignated lockable room. |The first step will bring a stroller with the equipment and the preparation of music Initially, it will be simple exercises in the | |warm-up then we will use selected by Mr X weights, stretching equipment and balls. To carry out a risk assessment I will carefully | |check environment if there are any type of hazards such as spillages on a floor or other obstacles around Mr X and others service | |users, remove these threats. Also all equipment to be checked if there are any damaged equipment and remove them. I have to make | |sure that the individual took appropriate medication due to his epilepsy and diabetes. |I planned my activity on 19 of March 2013. The activity will take about 70 minutes with 10 minute break for tea, coffee or something| |cooling to drink in terms of the diabetes of Mr X which excludes sweetened beverages. | |During my activity I will use personal – centred planning model of care because the model let me focus on the individua l | |expectations and also let me be fully involved into the activity as Mr X as well. The consequent events in the story poignantly weaves the destiny of a woman who prefers to stay back by her errant husband's side enduring the trauma and finds solace in her religion which she faithfully follows in spite of the ordeal she is made to undergo in a society claiming to follow the very religion she also adheres to. While the author portrays Ramatoulaye's stoic handling of her unfortunate situation, she also goes a step further and provides a dash of rebellion by the character of Aissatou, Ramatoulaye's friend, who divorces her husband and migrates to the United States to pursue a more cheerful and rational environment.

Her children are gaining most of the behavioral patterns from their mother. My days go by more quickly with the help of my family and with my role of being a sty-at-home mother. These responsibilities are things that I adore, but also a demanding job. As a mother, I must provide care for my children, take responsibility for my family and love them all at the same time. I put my family together through affection, love patience, gentle l istening, consoling and encouragement. I also have to try to extinguish interpersonal conflicts in the family by watching over each member with true tenderness. How the women in two stories are treated by the men in their lives Essay Examine how the women in two stories are treated by the men in their lives Two short fiction stories which show how women are treated by the men in their lives are The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion and Weekend. The first story is a pre-1914 story called The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion and it is written by Thomas Hardy. The story is set in 1801 and it was published in 1891.The other story is a more modern story as it is set in the late twentieth century and was published in 1981. It is called Weekend and it is written by a feminist writer called Fay Weldon. The main theme of The Melancholy of the German Legion is how a woman is treated with little independence and how the main female character, Phyllis Grove, tries to find her own freedom by forming a strong friendship with a German soldier that escalates into a relationship. Phyllis is a shy, young character who lives in a secluded manor house with her father, Dr Grove, who was a professional and well-respected gentleman. There now appears to be a lack of money in the Grove household. She is very wary of people due to her sheltered life of solitude, which is mainly the result of her fathers own seclusion, her social condition was twilight. She doesnt appear to have a job as she is the unmarried daughter and she has to look after her father. This was very common for women in the nineteenth century as they didnt have the freedom to go to work and make a career for themselves. Women who were of a low social class would have done very menial jobs, such as maid or dairy maid. Martha is the female in focus in the story Weekend. The story appears to be set in the late 1980s to the early 19990s. The social class of the family in focus is working class as they do not appear to be poor or extremely rich. Martha is a middle-aged market researcher who is married to Martin, a freelance designer and together they have three children called Jolyon, Jenny and Jasper. She has a rather hectic lifestyle looking after three children, running a home, holding down a full-time job and being at her demanding husbands beck and call there was the car to unpack and the beds to make up and the electricity to connect, and the supper to make and the cobwebs to remove. The main theme of this story is how hard Martha has to work and how little recognition she receives in return. She has to play the role of the happy little housewife to please her domineering husband and informs us of how hard her life was made by her husband, the man who is meant to love her. Despite the way she is treated by her husband, she is educated to university standard and she is most probably going to overtake her husband in earnings. The main male characters in The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion each treat Phyllis in a different manor. Her father, Dr Grove, seems very over-protective of her and likes his life of seclusion. This may be because he lost his wife and feels that it is his duty to make sure that no harm comes of Phyllis and that he thinks he knows what is best for his daughter. When Humphrey Gould asked Mr Grove for his daughters hand in marriage, Mr Grove accepted without even consulting Phyllis. Mr Grove considered this to be a good move for his daughter as Humphreys family had a respectable social position in the community and he could provide for her. Even though Mr Grove treats his daughter with the respect she deserves, he still refrains her from having her freedom and the right to chose who she wants to marry. Humphrey Gould himself was a thirty-year-old bachelor from an old local family, who was neither good-looking nor positively plain. He seemed extremely happy to have Phyllis as his wife-to-be and gave the impression that he would take good care of her and had great respect for her. He treated her as a lady with great respect, but despite the good image we get of Gould in the beginning of the story, we soon see a different side of him. He goes away to Bath and doesnt keep Phyllis informed of his whereabouts and she is left questioning whether the engagement is still on or not. When he eventually returns he tells her that he has married another young woman, who he describes as being a dear young belle. This action wasnt very thoughtful on his behalf and even though Phyliss didnt really want to marry him and didnt love him, she still fells slightly betrayed. The only male in The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion who doesnt treat women as though they are objects and treats Phyllis with the amount of respect and freedom she truly deserves is Matthaus Tina. He was a German soldier in the York Hussars regiment and was staying close to where Phyllis lived. He had travelled to England with his brother Christoph, due to The War of the Second Coalition, and had left his mother in his native town of Saarbuck. After Phyllis had first met Matthaus she couldnt stop thinking about him and described him as so striking, so handsome, and his eyes were so blue. He was twenty-two and had quite a high position in the German Army as a corporal. He treated Phyllis as though she were equal to him and there was no hint of a divide between them due to her being female. He respected her fully and never let her down, unlike Humphrey Gould who broke off the engagement. He may have treated her with more respect and freedom than the other main men in her life as he was German and in his country they may have been more hospitable towards women. Martin is the male in focus in Weekend and his is a very obnoxious character. He is married to Martha and he is a freelance designer and there are clues in the story which suggest that he is in his forties, for example he watches the BBC2 news, which is typical of a middle-aged person. Martin treats Martha as more of a servant than a wife and he puts all of the responsibilities onto her. He seems to think that he is too good to be doing housework and odd-jobs and Martha is left to do long lists of chores, prepare tea and sandwiches for the family: then she would strip four beds, the chores seem endless. Martin is also very particular about how he like things to be done, which means extra work for Martha. Martin thinks mash is stodgy and ordinary and instant mash is unthinkable, which means Martha has to take a long time to sautà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½ the potatoes and he thinks pork is a dull meat if its not cooked properly, so she has to spend ages cooking it just how he likes it. Martha doesnt say much in the story as she cant get a word in edgeways because in his eyes he is the man of the house, even though Martha runs the household. She doesnt have much of a chance to voice her opinions directly, but she does voice them in her thoughts as the story is mainly written in first person narrative with her as the narrator. She helps us to get inside her head and with her use of lists she helps to inform us of just how many things she has to do. She seems to scared to disagree with Martin and goes along with whatever he says I expect your right, just to keep the peace. Martha and Phyllis are similar in many ways, even though they are in different situations and from different backgrounds. They are both overpowered by the men in their lives who are closest to them and they are both deprived of having their own lives. Neither of the women seem to have a say about what happens in their lives, for example Phyllis was told who to marry by her father and Martha was told what to with her life by her husband. Despite the number of similarities between the two women there are also some differences between them. Martha put up with her way of life and didnt question it much, but Phyllis did decide to change things. She chose to carry on the affair with Matthaus Tina as she saw a break from her regimented lifestyle and went against her fathers wishes. Phyllis became quite rebellious when she was planning to escape to Saarbuck with Matthaus and Christoph. This is something that Martha would never have considered doing. Both of the women are victims in each of the stories, but I think that Marthas suffering was worse than that of Phyllis as hers was constant and she never got a break from it. Phyllis is treated better than Martha in that respect as she had someone in her life who was treating her very well. That person was Tina as he was the only one who saw the true Phyllis and respected the true Phyllis. To me, Marthas victimisation is worse than that of Phyllis as in 1981 Martha should have had more chances and opportunities due to the development of society, than Phyllis did in1801. I felt very sympathetic towards both of the female characters due to the fact that they are seen as victims and I also felt sympathetic towards Matthaus Tina. I felt sympathetic towards him as he did so much for Phyllis and did his best to keep her happy. It was very sad when he was killed at the end of the story and I again felt very sympathetic towards Phyllis as she lost the one person she truly trusted. The rest of her life is touched by the scandal, even though she was blameless for what happened. The type of language used in each of the stories is suited to the time that it was written and they are very different to each other. The language in The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion is formal and uses traditional English, such as unsrupulous and melancholy, as that type of language would have been used in the nineteenth century. It contains more complex sentences than that used in Weekend and they are sometimes harder to comprehend. The narrative in The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion starts in first person, which is Hardys narration to introduce the characters and scene to the reader. It then progresses into third person narrative to involve the reader in the story, before returning to first person narrative to tie of all loose ends in the story, for example Matthaus date of death. The use of third person narrative enables the reader to see more deeply into the story and become more involved in what is happening. The narrative style and language used in Weekend is less formal than that used in Hardys stories. There are many non-sentences, such as Katy versus Janet, which do not contain a verb and are more of a thought .There are many compound sentences that use words such as then, but, and, so, which helps Martha to express how many jobs she has to do. This use of language is well suited to the date in which the story was set. The role and rights of women changed quite a lot in the period of time between when the two books were written. In 1801, nobody had the chance to vote and your right to a say depended on your position in society. Men with homes got the vote in 1867, all men got the vote in 1916 and women didnt get the vote until 1926. This meant that for along time women were seen as being lower than men and were provided for by their husbands. Other turning points for women in this time span were that they were able to get jobs and were protected by The Sex Discrimination Act,1975. This explains why Martha had a job and Phyllis didnt, but there is still no explanation to support why Martha was treated so badly in modern day Britain. My conclusion is that Fay Weldon was trying to get across that some traditions never change.

Advertising the job role is something an HR employee has to do. They can advertise job roles in many different ways such as internal emails. Most companies start out emailing internal employees about current job vacancies incase another employee would like to apply for the role or a friend or family member would. This is cost effective as no money is spent on advertising publicly; therefore if they are working within a budget, this is a good way to save money. Advertising publicly can become an expense. If an HR employee does choose to advertise publicly such as in the local paper, then they will have to work on writing the advertisement and sending the advertisement to the local papers. One way of advertising publicly without affecting any budget is by advertising on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin, and posting the advertisement on job websites such as Reed.co.uk, indeed.co.uk, and totaljob.co.uk. This is a good way to advertise a job vacancy as no costs are incurred and it is guaranteed to be viewed by many possible applicants. Other ways in which an HR employee advertises for vacancies is through a Recruitment Agency. This can become quite expensive, but it’s down to the agency to find the suitable candidates and notify the HR employee about the prospective clients. If a large number of applications are received, this will prevent the interviewing of all applicants by the HR employee, even though all applications are reviewed and applicants whose qualifications and experience seem most appropriate to the opening for which they have applied  are generally selected for screening interviews with the HR employee and possibly another member involved in the recruitment process such as a Team Leader, Manager, or Director. If successful, the HR employee will notify all the applicants interviewed for the specific vacancy, and they will also notify them of the outcome of the selection process. Before conducting an interview, an HR employee has to be aware of the following †¢Familiarising with the duties and requirements of the position they are looking to fill. †¢Making sure they can answer general questions about the organisation and the benefits provided. †¢Formulate questions that will focus on job-related issues such as asking the can didates how they would deal with real life, job-related situations. †¢Write down and organize the questions in the order you will be asking them. †¢Review applicant’s CV and application. †¢Put the applicant at ease with introductory and welcoming remarks. †¢Ask open-ended questions which require behavioral descriptions rather than simply â€Å"yes† or â€Å"no† answers (i.e., have them describe a work situation in which they handled stress well rather than just asking if they can â€Å"handle stress well†). †¢Stay away from questions that have more to do with personal lifestyle than job experience. Phrase the question so that the answer will describe on-the-job qualities instead of personal qualities. If the question is not related to performance on the job, it should not be asked. General Administration of the employees Another aspect an HR employee has to deal with is the general admin of their employees. The HR department with have every employee’s personal details such as address details for sending out letters, pay-slips, or any other documentation. Bank details to make sure the employees wages go into the employees account. Passports, any qualification certificates, birth certificates, right to work, sickness forms, medical information, etc. Any of this information is liable to change in which case, it is down to the employee to notify the HR employee and it is the HR employee’s job to correct, amend and store away this information. Part of the admin is making sure the filing system is maintained and up to date, Supporting with training development administration including updating training records, and other ad hoc duties that support the smooth running of the office and  the HR department Payroll and compensation: Another aspect on an HR employee’s job is to ensure that all staff receives their wages accurately and on time, usually on a monthly basis. The HR employee has close communication with managers and other employee’s such as Team Leaders to find out about any new recruits, promotions, benefits, and any other aspects that need to be considered when dealing with an employee’s wage. Compensation is the reward received by the employee’s in return for their contributions to the organisation. It is an organised practice that involves balancing the work-employee relation by providing monetary and non-monetary benefits to employees. Compensation is an integral part of human resource management which helps in motivating the employees and improving organisational effectiveness. Other compensation is determining and providing the compensation packages to the employees that are aligned with the business goals and objectives. In some cases, organisations have to take special measures regarding compensation of the employees so that the organisations retain the valuable employees. The compensation systems have changed from traditional ones to strategic compensation systems. Ways HR professional support Line Managers and their staff Building Relationships with employees The primary reason human resources and line managers should work together is because both parties have a vested interest in ensuring the company achieves success. Through working together, line management becomes more proficient in tactical human resources functions. Only then can the relationship be built on a platform of mutual respect and trust where both sides work as a team. HR employees need to make line managers aware of the support that is available to help them to develop their talent management capability. Line Managers recognise that it is up to HR employee to raise their profile in terms of what they can offer and bring to a business making them a more reputable employee for the organisation Conflict Resolution Workplace conflict is inevitable whenever department employees represent different cultures, work styles and personalities. When conflicts arise, line managers typically seek the advice of HR in resolving issues between employees or issues between employees and their managers. If there is already tension between HR and a member of the management team, it can be difficult for HR to determine what underlies the conflict and how to resolve it. A positive working relationship between HR and any employee in a management status will make it easier when handling workplace investigations and solving the differences between staff. When HR and line management work together, it’s easier for HR to investigate workplace issues because the human resource staff may have greater confidence that line managers document their employment actions and decisions appropriately and according to company policy. Department Staffing The human resource department’s main function is to support the workforce needs of the organisation. HR and line managers should communicate regularly and frequently to determine the skills and qualifications that are required to make sure that department functions are running smoothly. Whenever there’s a vacancy in a line manager’s department, an HR recruiter or employment specialist and the line manager review the job description to  determine who might be suitable for the roll internally. During the recruitment and selection process, HR advises line managers on how to identify qualified candidates and existing department staff capabilities.
